4 Unique Content Ideas to Promote Your Book

Are you working on promoting your book, but in search of more creative content ideas? While we love the classic methods of promoting your favorite reviews or using amazing bookish photography with a snippet of the synopsis, sometimes switching it up a bit can be a huge help in reaching a larger audience.

Below are a few trends we’ve seen around the book community that have really caught our attention or convinced us to try a new read!

Book Playlist

While many readers prefer to read in silence, some of us wholeheartedly believe a book is best with a matching soundtrack. This can be as easy picking out a “Top 5 Songs That Match My Book” or making a full-length Spotify or 8tracks playlist of music that inspired your brainstorming sessions!

This content is great, too, because it can easily be made cross-platform. You can create a blog post with your list, a reel featuring one of the songs, or an aesthetically pleasing playlist graphic. You may even reach some casual readers who don’t have bookish social media and discover your playlist! Swipe here to see an example!

Favorite Quotes

This one may seem like a no-brainer, but sometimes a witty or emotionally-charged quote from your story is all it takes to pique someone’s interest. We love to see teaser graphics with quotes between the main character and their romantic interest, but we also adore the words that inspire, motivate, or bring hope!

A post including your top 5 or 10 favorite quotes can help a potential reader decide that your writing style is exactly what they’re looking for in their next book haul.

“If You Liked XXX, Try XXX!”

If you’re a movie buff or TV show enthusiast, you have probably finished a film/show on a streaming service, and immediately taken to a screen with recommendations of what to watch next (e.g. You liked One Tree Hill, next up: Gilmore Girls?). This has swayed many viewers to try and find something similar to what they just enjoyed, and we love seeing this applied to books.

Have you written a fantasy romance with a few of the same tropes as another book? Does the aesthetic of the world give off the same vibes as a currently trending read?

Aesthetic, Aesthetic, Aesthetic

One of our personal favorite trends that can immediately draw in a reader is marketing the aesthetic of your book! This can be as simple as making a vivid collage of stock images that remind you of your story (also works made into IG Reels/TikTok form!) or as elaborate as merging with another of your hobbies to make a collab.

Do you love fashion or makeup? A photo of you dressed to match your book cover or with a makeup look to match your MC can help reach lots of casual readers who are actively following fashion hashtags and not necessarily bookish ones. The same approach applies to crafting/bullet journaling/etc. We love to be enchanted with a story in the most unexpected ways.

Are you a fan of one or more of these ideas but don’t have the time/energy to do it yourself (writing a book is time-consuming!!!)? Don’t fret, Valkyrie Visionaries is here to do it for you! Check out our Services tab for more information on how we can assist in creatively promoting your book!
